The month of December and Christmas always signalled joy in my early years. It meant long school holidays, family re-union, new clothes, presents, and best of all party time! It always was a pleasant experience to rise up early on Christmas day and watch how the ram was slaughtered, roasted in a born-fire and cooked.

It is amazing how much joy and excitement those days brought. We got to see members of our extended families, friends and acquaintances. Christmas day was usually busy, lots of cooking eating, drinking and discussions in the air. In the midst of all, a meeting was held during which events of the year were reviewed and plans for the New Year deliberated.
Well the kids ran errands, played around waiting for dinner to be served but the reason for the season was always made loud and clear. Christmas is not about Santa Claus and Rudolf the red nose reindeer but about God sending his only begotten son born of a virgin to earth to cleanse us from our sins. That’s the true reason for the season. Jesus Christ was born to save humanity.Isaiah 9:7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. - King James VersionMatthew 1:21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. - King James Version

As you celebrate Christmas, remember it is a time of sharing, love and re-union.Let’s make a difference in the life of at least one person, show love to somebody, say a prayer, send a gift, send a card / e-card, do something to put a smile on the face of someone. I remember our parents would ask us to take meals to our neighbours and in return they would send meals to us. The most important thing is the thought and act of sharing and not the meal. Depending on the weather where you are, you may be celebrating Christmas at the beech, holiday resorts or indoors. Whichever it is, make an effort and be a blessing to someone.

You don’t have to spend a fortune you can send a Christmas e-card, create scrap book and share exciting photos with friends and family. It all for free! If you can’t think of anyone to send an e-card to send one to me, I’ll appreciate that.
